You are being asked to spend real money on something you may not be able to judge yourself. These are the honest answers to the four questions that decide it.
You are not asked to judge the chess. After the trial you get a written level assessment, and through the course you get written progress reports in plain language: what was worked on, what changed, and what comes next. You are always told where things stand, including when the answer is that it is going slowly.
A written level assessment, a study roadmap for the opening and tactics work ahead, specific positions from their own games to study between sessions, and a progress report. The How It Works page shows a 60-minute lesson minute by minute.
Private sessions run from $60 to $150 each depending on level, and group programmes are $30 per session per participant. Every rate is published before you enquire, there is no card on file, and there is no minimum number of sessions you have to buy.
Cancel any session with 24 hours notice at no cost. If you have paid ahead and want to stop, unused sessions are refunded pro-rata. If the coach is ever unavailable the session is rescheduled at no cost. There is no contract and nothing to cancel.
You do not have to guess. The free trial is where the level is properly confirmed - the table below is only the starting point.
